Determining Quality of Farmer's Products

Although it is commonly believed that products bought directly from farmers is better, healthier and more qualitative that the same products bought in a store that is not necessary true. The majority of products that farmers are selling usually tastes better and is incomparably fresher that products in a store, however, they are not always healthier and more qualitative, and could also have negative consequences for our health.

It is very hard to deter mine the real quality of products we intend to buy at farmers unless the farmer does not have some sort of certifications or guarantees of quality from the local or state authorities. For that reason people who like to buy from the farmers anyway usually always purchase products from the same farmers and the ones they know. However, if we are buying for the first time from a farmer we have never seen before and know nothing about his/her products we can not be sure if they will be selling us what they claim to. The products might look and taste good but if they are really healthier than the same products from the store which have been (or at should be) controlled before being offered for sale, we can not know.

To be absolutely or at least pretty sure we are buying qualitative products from farmers it is best to ask the farmer to show us some certifications or guarantees of quality of his/hers products, ask someone who has experience of purchasing at farmers or check online if there are perhaps some comments about the farmer we intend to purchase.
