Agritourism
In industrialized countries in the 20th and 21st centuries greatly arose the number of people who have been living all their lives in cities and suburbs. Many of them have no relatives or friends in the countryside and the only picture of life in the countryside and life on farms they get is from television. With purpose to change that and to offer those people an opportunity to experience the life on a farm and in the countryside in person many farmers do not just sell their products but also offer an opportunity to visit their farm and to spend vacations on their farms.
Visiting and spending vacations on a farm known as agritourism has been very well accepted predominantly by those people who are living in bigger cities. After all, the farmers are the ones who produce the majority of our food and its ingredients. For that reason many people are interested how it is grown and who are the people providing us our daily meals.
The majority of farms offering agritourism also offer accommodation and possibility to help with farming tasks such as picking fruits and vegetables, and feeding livestock what enables their guests to learn more about farming and to experience a life of a farmer. However, the farmers are aware that people who have chosen farm as a vacation destination did not come to just help in farm tasks and chat about farming but also to spend some time in nature and taste the homemade food and local specialities. To provide unforgettable and as much possible interesting vacations to their guests agritourism usually also includes variety of activities and excursions to nearby landmarks.
